On June 6, 2025, President Trump signed two Executive Orders. “Unleashing American Drone Dominance” EO 14307, and “Restoring American Airspace Sovereignty” EO 14305. These EOs have the potential to catapult the $3B industry to $15B by 2030. These orders are our signal to act fast.

Many factors lead to the changes made in the drone market. From Ukraine strapping boom booms to household drones to start, then quickly innovating their technology. American parts and manufacturing are being outsourced to non-NATO countries like China, and procurement bottlenecks and bureaucracy are slowing down innovation.

In today's edition, we are going to cover what these EOs mean and how we can get started in the market.

Table of Contents

🛬 Game-Changer. Breakdown of the EOs

China accounts for 70% of the global drone production. These orders aim to dethrone the giant and cement the U.S. leadership in defense, logistics, and more. Here’s the skinny:

Unleashing American Drone Dominance

The Brief: 14307 orders the FAA to propose Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) rules by July 6, 2025, with a finalization by February 2026. Slash Part 107 waiver time by deploying AI tools by October 2025. U.S.-made drones mandate for DoD and federal procurement, and boost exports and eVTOL pilots for cargo/medical.

Why It Matters: The EO unlocks commercial applications like delivery and agriculture, plus billions in DoD contracts. We are likely to see the advanced air mobility market hit $2B by 2030.

Resource: FAA UAS

Restoring American Airspace Sovereignty

The Brief: 14305 establishes a Federal Task Force to counter threats (e.g., smuggling, base incursions, etc.). Bans foreign drones in sensitive ops. State and local detection tech funding, and requiring real-time UAS ID by August 2025.

Why it Matters: Drive demand for secure U.S.-built drones, sidelining non-compliant players like DJI.

Market Impact: Aligned with NDAA 2025’s ban on Chinese components, these EOs shrink 7-year procurement cycles to 24 months. DoD’s $10-15B annual UAS budget and a 15-20% CAGR signal a gold rush for compliant manufacturers.

💰 Follow the Money Trail, Billions up for Grabs

With the changes being made through the EOs, we are now going to see funding start to flood in, with DoD’s Replicator program committing $1B by August 2026. In the words of Billy Mays, “Wait, there is more.”

Replicator 1: $500M to deploy thousands of attritable, sub-55 lb drones by August 2025—multi-domain, low-cost systems to counter China.

Replicator 2: $500M for counter-small UAS (C-sUAS) within 24 months—sensing, AI, non-kinetic defeats. Demo at NORTHCOM’s Falcon Peak.

SBIR/STTR: Billions for UAS R&D; Phase I ($50K-$275K), Phase II (up to $1.8M), Phase III (millions via contracts).

OTAs/CSOs: $100K-$100M for prototypes via DIU, Army, Navy; 75% to non-traditional vendors.

State Grants: E.g., Florida’s $25M to replace Chinese drones.

VC Surge: $19.1B in Q2 2025 for defense tech; firms like Andreessen Horowitz and Lux Capital are all-in on UAS.
