As a reminder, the Pentagon has just announced a significant development—the construction of a pier off the coast of Gaza. This initiative will enable us to provide vital humanitarian assistance during wartime and sustainably feed 1 million people daily. However, as with any mission, there are setbacks, which we'll discuss in today's edition.

Gold Star Fraudster Targeted Women & Non-English Speakers

A New Jersey Army Reservist, Caz Craffy, also known as Carz Craffey, admitted to defrauding Gold Star families by convincing them to invest $10 million into an investment scheme. Craffy's deception led to a loss of $3.7 million of these funds on risky financial bets, while he profited by keeping $1.4 million for himself. Craffy targeted families who received large cash compensations after the on-duty deaths of soldiers, misleading them into believing that the Army approved the investments.

The fraudulent activities of Craffy have had a profound impact on the affected families, including the family of U.S. Spc Hai Ming Hsia, a Purple Heart recipient who died in 2006. Craffy's actions were particularly heinous, as he not only exploited the financial vulnerability of Gold Star families but also took advantage of their lack of financial literacy. Many of the victims were women and non-English speakers, making them easy targets for Craffy's manipulative tactics.

The case has led to significant legal repercussions for Craffy, who now faces multiple charges, including six counts of wire fraud and one count each of securities fraud, making false statements in a loan application, committing acts affecting a personal financial interest, and making false statements to a federal agency. If convicted, Crafty could face up to 20 years in prison for each count of wire fraud and securities fraud, highlighting the severity of his actions and the potential consequences for those who prey on the families of fallen soldiers.

Soldiers with the 1st Brigade, 506th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, received a batch of XM7 rifles, XM250 automatic rifles, and XM157 fire controls in late March.

The XM7 is the Army’s replacement for the M4, while the XM250 will replace the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon.

Seeing the effects on the targets we had makes up for any concerns I had initially about the increased weight.”

Col. Trevor Voelkel said.

The 6.8mm round, a key feature of the XM7, boasts a lethal range of at least 600m, doubling the range of the 5.56mm rounds. Thus, it significantly enhances our soldiers' operational capabilities.

The recoil, honestly, was very negligible even with the larger round.”

Colston said.

The weight of the weapon was pretty negligible.

There wasn’t anybody who had any issues getting groupings or zeroing quickly.

Mentioned Staff Sgt. Garrett Steele

The $4.7 billion rifle and automatic rifle weapons contract with firearms manufacturer Sig Sauer and the $2.7 billion contract with Sheltered Wings, a subsidiary of Vortex Optics, for the XM157 are the most significant changes to Army individual weapons since the M16 was fielded in the 1960s.

The Doolittle Raid

On April 18, 1942, the United States launched the first air raid on Japan, known as the Doolittle Raid, in response to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

Led by Lieutenant Colonel James H. Doolittle, 16 American B-25 bombers took off from the aircraft carrier USS Hornet, targeting various cities, including Tokyo and Yokohama. Despite causing only minor damage, the raid boosted American morale and demonstrated the U.S. capability to strike the Japanese mainland.

The Japanese were caught off guard, and the raid forced them to recall combat equipment from other theaters for home defense. The Doolittle Raid marked a significant turning point in World War II, signaling the U.S.'s resolve to retaliate against Japan and ultimately influencing the course of the Pacific War.

The American soldier demonstrated that, properly equipped, trained and led, he has no superior among all the armies of the world.

General Lucian K. Truscott

We are seeing mission setbacks, war, and fraud emerge, making us wonder about the state of the US and allied countries. We also see the people come together, giving hope to one another during these difficult times.  True change comes from us as individuals. Don’t let the darkness cloud the light. Stay alert, stay positive, and stay in the Word.
