King Louis XVI Receives U.S. Rep

On March 20, 1778, King Louis XVI of France officially recognized the United States as an independent nation by receiving its representatives, Benjamin Franklin, Silas Deane, and Arthur Lee, at the royal court in Versailles.

This event marked a significant turning point in the American Revolutionary War, leading to a formal alliance between the two nations.

The alliance played a crucial role in the eventual victory of the American colonies over the British forces, and it laid the foundation for the long-standing relationship between the United States and France.

Heroism doesn’t always happen in a bust of glory. Sometimes, small triumphs and large hearts change the course of history.
